WEBSITE AND COMMONS
The Association’s website at www.aupresses.org is public-facing, showcasing the value and values of university presses. Highlights of the site include our mission statement translated into more than 30 languages, an archive of policy statements and news announcements, and the invaluable and much referenced Jobs List.
Member resources, including the ability to post free job listings, are accessible via sites within our UP Commons space—allowing members to maintain a single log-in identity for AUPresses community collaborations, members-only resources, and restricted benefits, as well as across their professional identity in any disciplinary space within the Knowledge Commons network.
The site-hosting feature of UP Commons allows the Association to support free-standing public sites there, as well. These include the committee-designed homes for the Book, Jacket, and Journal Show and the Ask UP author education resource. The Demographics Toolkit, online edition of Best Practices for Peer Review Handbook, and our Annual Report are also supported on the UP Commons platform.
AUPRESSES BULLETIN
A monthly newsletter providing updates on Association programs, activities, and news from the membership, along with a slate of recommended reads from industry publications, the bulletin is distributed via email to subscribed staff at member presses.
MEMBERSHIP DIRECTORY
This past year, Association members used a new online platform to contribute up-to-date press and staff information to a renewed annual data and directory process. An enhanced online press directory launches in Spring 2026 and the print Annual Member Directory will once again be published later in the year. The Subject Area Grid, a popular reference for authors and researchers, will be updated in the fall, and the annual cycle of data collection and publication will continue on track from there.
DIGITAL DIGEST
The Association’s blog Digital Digest serves as a channel for perspectives from around our community. Posts from the past year include:
- An update on the University-Based Publishing Futures initiative;
- Two session summaries from the 2025 Virtual Annual Meeting: “Implementing DEIA Training for Editors in a Library Publishing Program” by Amanda Karby and Charlotte Roh (California Digital Library), and “Creating a Thriving Gift Books List” by Elizabeth Demers (Michigan State) and Jenny Keegan (Louisiana State);
- Professional development reports from six 2025 Week-in-Residence and Directors Residency participants;
- A report on the Association’s cooperative exhibit at the inaugural Charleston Conference Asia in Bangkok, Thailand from Community Development and Communications Manager Kate Kolendo; and
- “On Immigration” and “On the War in Iran,” recommended reading lists from member presses, offering much-needed context for topics in the news (as reported in the “Voicing Our Values” section of this Report).
